What Caught my Eye – Week Ending July 16, 2022

From XKCD,com

Each week I read through a crazy amount of content. Who knows what will catch my eye. Some times I may devote an entire post to something, other times it may just be little mind worms that either inspire me, make me mad or even laugh. You never know what I may put here. I have an eclectic collection of interests in life. Items are posted in no particular order, and I will provide the full link to the articles in case anyone is interested in checking them out.

TL;DR? This week we cover a quick set of links covering :

  1. Images from a long time ago, in galaxies far far away – in vivid detail
  2. Networking In Kubernetes – Strange but familiar territory
  3. Finally Nanoleaves in black
  4. Delivery of the Motobuild
  5. Next Level French Fry Mastery – How is this a thing and why don’t I have it yet?

Images from a long time ago, in galaxies far far away – in vivid detail

Probably no surprise to long time readers or people who know me. The images from the Webb telescope of stunning in their fidelity, depth, and richness. You know that this had a significant amount of my free brain-share time. Digging into details, re-investigating the underlying tech, my weird sense of happiness that this was launched into a Lagrange point far from earth for stability. But you can just look at and marvel at the pictures. I know I am still doing that.

Networking in Kubernetes – Strange but familiar territory

While doing a small little project in my home environments I found myself down an interesting little rat hole dealing with networking-related issues in Kubernetes. I found this article / tutorial helpful in getting me over the hump in blending concepts in these two worlds.

Sexy Glow art – finally!

Finally Nanoleaves in black

Finally NanoLeaf has released their product in an all black color-way and it looks way cooler. At least to my aesthetic. The company announced that they were doing this to coincide with their 10th anniversary. While I have always thought these things were cool, and wanted them in my home set-up I just didn’t dig them in white and it didn’t really look all that great in any of my home environments. Now with this release – I have no excuses not to buy them. Except maybe how many and what design I want to end up with. This may be harder than I think!

Delivery of the Motobuild

This week I was also distracted by getting ready to deliver the Motobuild to my nephew. You can learn more on this project here, then here, and finally here. Its not so much something that caught my eye as it is something took a bunch of time. Hope he likes it!

Next Level French Fry Mastery – How is this a thing and why don’t I have it yet?

Heinz has taken French Fries and Ketchup to the next level. When I say the next level I mean of course, a completely outrageous, non-sensical, got to have it level. What am I talking about? How about Spoons made out of French Fries. This is a bad idea on so many levels but so good on others. Good thing I gave up carbo-loading… still – salty goodness french fries, shaped like spoons, custom made for ketchup. Need to stay strong… maybe just one spoon…. full.
